Island Booth at the Market, 31 Aug 201331 Aug 2013 We’re currently travelling in convoy to the markets - IB1 (our van) carries the booth + Aroko. IB2 (our scooter) carries Andy. IB1 missed the rain, IB2 got a cloudburst just out of Matavera, however the weather was still clear in town. It took a while for market-goers to turn up this morning. Fortunately a large family group on the rock for a wedding created their own IB family tree. We had some first-time boothers who found out about us on Facebook :). We also some last-minute pix in time for Father’s Day.

Island Booth at the Market, 24 Aug 201324 Aug 2013 We were still a bit groggy this morning, from our day in the sun at Nukutere Gala yesterday, but happy market-goers are a great pick-me-up. We saw familiar faces from the gala, and made-up more Loyalty Cards. We continued our TMN Special - 3 of our big prints for just $10 - great if you want pix to send to family. Visiting boothers came back with extra family members for commemorative shots, and regulars fine-tuned their shapes.

Nukutere Gala 2013 - Part 123 Aug 2013 We were overjoyed to be invited back to the Nukutere Gala. With a food festival theme, each student year prepared a speciality, from umu food to hot pot, desserts and BBQ. On the sidelines, stalls offered face painting, the chance to soak your favourite teacher (props to Mr Rasmussen), plus a bouncy castle - which was a big hit with the littlies from St. Joseph’s…

Nukutere Gala 2013 - Part 223 Aug 2013 …around lunch-ish-time, each year presented a performance, which we caught glimpses of between the marquees. Once again, we had little time to grab food, but timely chilled nu and a BBQ plate from Mr Piho kept us going. We stayed around for the drawing of the monster raffle and celebrated the close of the day with an ice-cream from the drinks-and-desserts truck. Meitaki to the organisers for making the booth part of the gala festivities.

Island Booth at the Market, 17 Aug 201317 Aug 2013 A busy Saturday down at the market this week. Families updated their pix - including the Punas - over for a visit from AK. We took pix of nana + mokupuna; holiday-makers; and for some off-shore regulars. Despite the heat there was still time for a last-minute dash by Tiare to bundle visiting comedians ‘The Laughing Samoans’ into the booth too. Meitaki - all done :).

Island Booth at the Market, 10 Aug 201310 Aug 2013 It was another beautiful day down at Punanga Nui this morning. There’s nothing like an early-morning scooter ride around the island, now necessary as there’s no room for me in the van due to Aroko + paraphernalia. We had a visit from the Davis clan; regulars refined their poses; and we got a few more signatures for our Te Maeva Nui petition. Outside the booth, there was three-way pram race between Tearuru, Luna, and Aroko; and local hip-hop crew hit the stage.

Vaka Puaikura Concert, 9 Aug 20139 Aug 2013 The Vaka Puaikura Concert was a bit earlier this year – bringing together some of the best performances from Te Maeva Nui. We spent the evening strategically moving our ei and ei katu from one side of our marquee to the other, as the wind was blowing the rain in from all sides. There were some awesome performances on the big stage, and equally inventive poses in the booth. A big meitaki much to the Mataroa kopu tangata for updating their family album with some fresh pix.

Island Booth at the Market, 3 Aug 20133 Aug 2013 Today’s market was a refreshing break from a week of last-minute politic-ing. It was chance to do what the booth does best – take great pix of people having fun :). First up, we provided some entertainment for visitors making the most of their last day on the rock. We traded pix for nu, talked to performers enjoying a break after Te Maeva Nui festivities, and got a few signatures for our petition
If you’d like to see us back at Te Maeva Nui 2014, come sign the petition at the booth!
