Island Booth at the Market, 30 Nov 201330 Nov 2013 Today was Justine’s birthday, and she chose one of her favourite backdrops - Tipani Pink, however fellow vendors at the market bullied us into starting our Christmas season early – so Kiritimiti it was. We dusted-off our Xmas props and added a few new item: sparkly ties, festive shades, new caps and hats.
This weekend the teams arrived for Netball in Paradise, and the Aitutaki team decided to camp-out at the booth. Handing out photo strips was made more difficult by the girls wearing their team Ts, matching shades, and sporting the same hairstyle.
We also bid kia manuia to the last of the paddlers, and took pix for bemused honeymooners, wedding couples and visiting families.

Vaka Eiva 2013 - Sprints27 Nov 2013 We spent the early morning resculpting the boat ramp between Captain Tama’s and Sails to create a stable platform for the booth. Our ‘V6 Special’ proved popular with crews - even when they were 2 short of the requisite six… We took family holiday pix, some beautiful solos, and caught up with regular boothers. Elsewhere, Aroko was ferried between his port-a-cot on the beach and aunty at the Muri Market, or joined the paddlers in enjoying a cool-off in the lagoon.

Vaka Eiva 2013 - Oe Mapu26 Nov 2013 What better way to top-off a day of intense paddling competition than with great food, a beautiful sunset, madcap games, and Island Booth! Once word was out, the juniors made the most of the free fotos. All-up,the Oe Mapu Awards was one of our fav. sessions of the year - also the debut of fresh ’drop: ‘Parapotini’ (passionfruit).

Island Booth at the Market, 23 Nov 201323 Nov 2013 Brilliant clear skies for this morning’s market. A few paddlers were up-and-about after early morning training sessions, buying provisions for Vaka Eiva this week. In between taking pix, we picked up Christmas gifts from fellow stall-holders and made a few more loyalty cards. We also took a strip to commemorate our aunty and uncle’s wedding anniversary.
Next week (due to popular demand), we start our Xmas season, with a new range of festive props. We'll also be at a few of the Vaka Eiva events. CU soon, J+A+A.

Island Booth at the Market, 16 Nov 201316 Nov 2013 This week, regulars introduced visiting family and friends to the booth. Families got in some practice before we break out our Christmas props, and pix were taken as birthday gifts and souvenirs.
Elsewhere in the market, Black Watch have some tasty fresh smoked fish packs on offer; pineapple is in back in season; and Anna’s rooster decorations and Sew Raro’s squishy-xmas-trees were in hot demand. Ani is back at the Fresh Local hut (but just for a couple of weeks), and Diya + clan are back from their travels. Due to popular demand, our festive season starts at the market Nov 30th - in time to send Xmas fotos to family overseas.

Air New Zealand 2013 Cook Islands Tourism Awards - Part 115 Nov 2013 Rain was threatening all afternoon - so it was a relief to have a balmy (but dry) evening on the lawn of the New Zealand High Commission for the 2013 Tourism Awards. We took a few pix prior to the formalities, which commenced with a speech by Air New Zealand chief executive Christopher Luxon on customer care.
During an unscheduled ’intermission’, we proved a popular distraction - special mention to the Wedded Bliss and Pacific Resort Group tables who made the most of their proximity to the booth…

Air New Zealand 2013 Cook Islands Tourism Awards - Part 215 Nov 2013 …The evening was catered by the hospitality school. Over mains, Invercargill mayor Tim Shadbolt shared anecdotes on finding the lighter side of any situation.
Once the awards (and champagne) started flowing, the booth was humming - winners keen to commemorate their achievements.
Meitaki to Teresa, Tina, and Alisterfromcookislandscricket for making the booth part of the celebrations.

Island Booth at the Market, 9 Nov 20139 Nov 2013 A highlight of today’s session was the visiting school group from Hawera, here to find out about Cooks culture and present funds toward the rebuilding of Nukutere College and Avatea School. With a bus to catch early morning, it was a case of quick styling and fast pix. We caught up with newlyweds Anita and Keith (+ families), who we first met at our boothday last year. We helped some frequent visitors to the island commemorate their island escape, and also saw Andy whose wedding we filmed last year - back to help run a NZ Defense Force youth development programme.
