Takitumu Night Market, 13 Sept 201213 Sep 2012 The September winds were in full force tonight and had most of us vendors scurrying around looking for concrete blocks, guy ropes and splints to reinforce our marquees. There’s been a new layout to the market the past couple of weeks that makes it easier to see the foods and crafts on offer. Plenty of picnic tables and more lighting too.
A few big groups in the booth, wedding parties, holidayers, and film crew in the mix.

Takitumu Night Market, 6 Sept 20126 Sep 2012 Rain was threatening this evening - visible up on the hills behind our house, but it stayed clear of the market. As promised we had a new addition to the market tonight - Nima’s range of vegetarian foods had locals coming all the way from Arorangi. The falafel were the first to sell out, so we went for couple of crispy coated rice balls. Yum. Highlights from the booth were solo-kid-portraits (feat. ‘Monkey’), a final photo-op for visitors catching the early morning flight home, big groups and family pix.

Takitumu Night Market, 9 Aug 20129 Aug 2012 It was all about the local this week. Firstly our new backdrop: Tongareva. This print is also available in a sheet and duvet set in a range of colours, and only from the Takitumu Market. Sam was roped into adding some local flavour to a visitor’s pix; we met some of Vanessa and Andy’s guests from tomorrow’s wedding; and the Peyroux family from the Kia Orana Store (our ‘local’), dropped by.

We also took delivery of our new hand-printed pareu backdrop, now all we need to do is come up with a name for it…

Takitumu Night Market, 19 July 201219 Jul 2012 It was the official launch of the Takitumu Night Market upgrades tonight - thanks to the Community Initiative Scheme. For those attending the market, the upgrades mean lighting and picnic tables. For us vendors, it's dedicated power - so we can leave our trusty generator at home. There was a happy buzz tonight with a couple of new local vendors selling kids clothing and pareu/sheet sets. We even picked out one of the pareu to add to our backdrop collection.

Takitumu Night Market, 21 June 201221 Jun 2012 Our first Takitumu in a few months - and a fresh start, with new picnic tables, lighting and roadside banners. Visitors took pix, and we kept the market kids entertained. We also photographed new backdrops - this week we added to our collection: FE (iron-grey), Imene Tuki (coral), Aitutaki (bright blue), and Island Ink (purple-blue). Takitumu Night Market, 12 Apr 201212 Apr 2012 Back at the Takitumu markets after a month’s break and a chance for us to test some new backdrops… First up: Rouge Lotus; then Mackerel Blue; and finally, new favourite, Vlad. Our regular boothers took to the costumes and turned out some great party and solo pix. Cameos for a couple celebrating their 25th anniversary, holiday-makers, and Kuki- cousins, aunties and uncles on the rock for the school break.

Takitumu Night Market, 1 Mar 20121 Mar 2012 It rained ‘quite a bit’ just before we left home to set-up at the market, but fortunately the evening cleared. This week the market provided a karaoke system to entertain the tamariki while families enjoyed a great range of food.
