Island Booth at the Market, 28 Apr 201228 Apr 2012 The island seemed a bit ‘tender’ this morning - a carry-over from an epic wedding-booth session on Friday night. Early rain had the booth up double-quick - just in time for the weather to clear :). It was a day of dynamic posing - with some sweet solos and duos. We took some great fun family portraits, worked on our baby wrangling skills and helped commemorate holidays, weddings, and renewed friendships.

Dancer of the Year - Seniors, 26 Apr 201226 Apr 2012 The senior dancers took to the stage tonight for the slow-, and fast-beat competition. The crowd were also treated to a special performance by the Cook Islands National Dance Team, who will be performing in Europe as part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations. There were some new faces in the booth; and we also farewelled Justine's folks who are back to NZ this weekend. We're trying out new locations - so keep your eyes peeled for the IB sign and the booth decked out in lights next time you're at the auditorium.

Akaoa Night Market, 25 April 201225 Apr 2012 This week saw the launch of the new TeRa fashion label at the market, complete with catwalk and exclusive offers for market-goers. In the booth we debuted our new Neon Blue backdrop. We also met travel agents on a ‘famil’, wedding groups from the Edgewater and took a farewell pic for the Pouao family.

Island Booth at the Market, 21 Apr 201221 Apr 2012 A sleepy crowd at the market today. A few visitors collecting last-minute souvenirs and waiting for connecting flights dropped by. We said farewell to Rosie-May (‘*not* Rosemary’), and her sister who are preparing to relocate to Auckland. We also welcomed back to the booth a number of the young dancers who feature in one of our jumbo-sized photo strips. Featured pose of the day - the ever popular - [ I ] [ ♥ ] [ U ].

Dancer of the Year - Juniors/Intermediate, 19 Apr 201219 Apr 2012 For Dancer of the Year we opened backdrop selection up to our Likers – the result? Rouge Lotus: 16 / Vlad: 6 / Mackerel Blue: 0. So RL it was. We hoped to get some of the stunning dance costumes into the booth, but instead we took some great cousin pix, bff groups and even captured the nefarious ‘Super Dufus Gang’. Highlight of the evening was welcoming back some our boothers from their travels.

Island Booth at the Market, 14 Apr 201214 Apr 2012 A great crowd at the market today. With the school holidays still in effect, we had Kukis visiting Rarotonga from Aitutaki, Australia and NZ - catching up with family. Aroha finished weaving our new custom deep-red pandanus fans. Other prop cameos included ukeles, nu (drinking coconuts), Fanta, island hats, shirts, and shades. We also dropped in to Fresh Local Art for a copy of the book on Cook Islands tattoo: Patterns of the Past - a successful day all round.

Takitumu Night Market, 12 Apr 201212 Apr 2012 Back at the Takitumu markets after a month’s break and a chance for us to test some new backdrops… First up: Rouge Lotus; then Mackerel Blue; and finally, new favourite, Vlad. Our regular boothers took to the costumes and turned out some great party and solo pix. Cameos for a couple celebrating their 25th anniversary, holiday-makers, and Kuki- cousins, aunties and uncles on the rock for the school break.

Island Booth at the Market, 7 Apr 20127 Apr 2012 Second week in our new location near Kia Orana Gifts. This week we had a wedding party from The Edgewater taking in the market vibes before the ceremony; the gang from Esther Honey (animal shelter / veterinary care) checking out our new spot; and a few more curious fellow stall holders putting the booth through its paces. We also received our new sandwich board from Rimatoa - meitaki to August and Deon for the awesome job!

Schools Culture Festival 2012, Part 14 Apr 2012 Our first BIG event at the auditorium this year. Late afternoon showers had us worried, as did the lake that formed where we hoped to set up... But then the skies cleared and people poured into the venue for the show - standing-room only!

Schools Culture Festival 2012, Part 24 Apr 2012 We were lucky in the second half of the evening to have a few more costumes in the booth. It was also a chance for family pix as gifts in time for the Easter holidays. Special meitaki to the dads and uncles who came to the booth with the tamariki :).
