Showing all 14 albums from July 2012.
Te Maeva Nui 2012 - Tues 31 July31 Jul 2012 Each TMN we see a new range of t-shirts in the booth - from vaka, islands, and this year visiting groups, such as the SEHCO group from AK. The dancers from Tongareva and Mangiia visited us tonight - direct from the stage. We also took some pix for newly-weds, families, a few other market-types and the behind-the-scenes crew.

Te Maeva Nui 2012, Competition - 30 July30 Jul 2012 The first night of competition at the auditorium - with a few international cameos. First-up: an encore performance from visitors from Raetihi (NZ); and after intermission, the lovely ladies from the American Ragtime Dolls took to the stage. The girls from Tongareva also made the most of the booth in their stunning purple costumes.

Te Maeva Nui 2012 - Choir / Imene Tuki, 29 July29 Jul 2012 A gentle Sunday at the auditorium for the choir and imene tuki section of Te Maeva Nui. We had a few boothers from the hostels drop by - including the Tongareva girls. The tere uniforms added some visual dazzle, and we took some cool cousin shots too.

Island Booth at the Market, 28 July 201228 Jul 2012 After a late finish at Mikaela & Antony’s wedding last night - the booth _almost took the morning off. Our start was further delayed by leaving a key part back in Muri - pushing our wee van to its limits. Meitaki maata to Hannah and Michaela who waited patiently for their prints. With Te Maeva Nui celebrations underway, we saw some new faces, along with boothers who were on the Rock the same time last year.

Te Maeva Nui 2012 - International Night, 28 July28 Jul 2012 We dedicate this album to our guests from Raetihi - here to represent NZ at Te Maeva Nui celebrations. One wahine proudly informed us that “where we’re from it gets to minus 15” - so the whole group were enjoying the relative warmth of the Raro Winter. We also saw Arorangi regulars from the Akaoa Night Market and Vaka Puaikura concert sessions, including acting PM Tom Marsters.

Mikaela & Antony’s Wedding27 Jul 2012 It was a cause for celebration for Vaka Puaikura as Antony and Mikaela celebrated their wedding at the Crown Beach Resort & Spa. Island Booth joined the reception celebrations following a stunning performance from the local talent. A word of caution: Kukis may have _some experience when it comes to rocking the booth ;).
Congratulations Mikaela and Pa.
Locals - you're welcome to order copies of any of these photos from the booth.

Takitumu Night Market, 26 July 201226 Jul 2012 A bonus night market this week with TMN just around the corner, TNM moved forward a week. We may have a new booth record after a three-family effort we (well, Justine), stacked 13 boothers into one strip! We also took delivery of our new hand-printed pareu backdrop, now all we need to do is come up with a name for it…

Island Booth at the Market, 21 July 201221 Jul 2012 A number of firsts this Saturday. We hung our new ‘Photo Booth’ banners - these will make it easier to spot us at markets and events ’round the Rock. With the help of visiting family, Kate modelled our new FAMILY PASS - that’s just $20 for two photo strips and three blow-ups. We’d also like to thank Kukis visiting from AU who discovered the IB Facebook Page and tracked us down for a commemorative pic.
We’re now starting the countdown to Te Maeva Nui…

Takitumu Night Market, 19 July 201219 Jul 2012 It was the official launch of the Takitumu Night Market upgrades tonight - thanks to the Community Initiative Scheme. For those attending the market, the upgrades mean lighting and picnic tables. For us vendors, it's dedicated power - so we can leave our trusty generator at home. There was a happy buzz tonight with a couple of new local vendors selling kids clothing and pareu/sheet sets. We even picked out one of the pareu to add to our backdrop collection.

Akaoa Night Market, 18 July 201218 Jul 2012 A quiet Akaoa this week - fortunately we had great company :). Meitaki to aunty Vicki’s family who took the opportunity to get photos with while visiting from Australia. A few regular boothers called by to bust out some great poses. We also helped to commemorate a holiday with friends (apparently a time-honoured tradition).
Akaoa takes a break while Te Maeva Nui is on, but keep your eyes peeled for the market's first birthday celebrations, mid-August.

Island Booth at the Market, 14 July 201214 Jul 2012 Busy times... We saw a few O-Bs (original boothers), who don’t get to the Saturday market often, or are back from NZ for the school holidays. We helped celebrate: family reunions, a 50th birthday, new babies, new fashion accessories, and... nu. Also took a farewell pic for a cousin, entertained wedding guests and caught up with some of our regulars. Meitaki maata :).

Island Booth at the Market, 7 July 20127 Jul 2012 We got to the market a bit earlier this morning (if we don’t, the final steps of setting things up gets a bit hot) - and the Market was humming. As we’re coming into the NZ and AU school holidays we had some big family groups in the booth. One of our fav. reason for getting a pic? To secure coveted photo space on Nan’s fridge. Meitaki maata to everyone waited for a tutu - fortunately our new location (near the Pearl Lounge), provides more shade the closer you get to the booth - win!

Telecom Cook Islands - We’re 21!5 Jul 2012 To celebrate 21 years of connecting Kukis, Telecom Cook Islands invited all their staff - past and present - to an awesome party. Great food, entertainment and hospitality. Although we were slow to start, fortunately TCI’s social committee members were on hand to help introduce staff to the booth ;). If you’d like copies of any of the photos or photostrips, see the social committee.

Akaoa Night Market, 4 July 20124 Jul 2012 Our first Akaoa in a couple of months! Definitely a bit chillier after sunset, but made warmer by great music and a performance tonight by Mii. This was our first official outing for our new Imene Tuki (coral), backdrop - a pretty good match for the sunset colours out West.
